Evidence-based therapies, also known as evidence-based practices, are psychotherapy treatments whose effectiveness has been proven by numerous scientific studies in academic journals. Most of these treatments are cognitive behavioral therapies.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) describes a specific form of therapy, and it also describes other therapies based on CBT principles that stemmed from the original CBT, such as those listed in the section below. All of the treatments offered at the Center for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness are evidence-based cognitive behavioral therapies.

If you would like to learn more about which therapies are considered evidence-based by the American Psychological Association’s Division 12, the Society of Clinical Psychology, visit the link below.

Not all therapists provide evidence-based therapies, and not all therapists who claim to provide CBT are specially trained in this approach. The Center for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness team consists of doctoral-level clinicians who are highly trained experts in cognitive behavioral therapies.

We are also trained in tailoring your treatment to your individual needs, so you can be sure you are receiving highly individualized care while also benefiting from the techniques that are proven to work. Learn more about what it means to be a doctoral-level clinician by clicking below.
