Teletherapy is therapy via live video calls with your therapist. The content of the sessions is the same as for in-person sessions. We use a secure teletherapy service that is HIPAA compliant. You do not need to download anything to access your teletherapy session— you can visit your therapist’s dedicated link in any browser. Feel free to use any device that has a camera and internet access and can stand without being held.

In our experience, many clients who are initially hesitant about teletherapy actually end up preferring it to in-person sessions, for the following reasons:

effectiveness

Teletherapy is highly effective— as effective as in-person sessions, according to research comparing the two forms of therapy. Research also shows high levels of client satisfaction with teletherapy.

And teletherapy has an advantage over in-person sessions: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy involves making changes in our lives outside of a therapy room, often at home. When you’re participating in therapy from your home, it is much easier to work on these changes directly in-session. For example, treatment for many types of issues requires gradual, structured, and supported exposures to the objects or situations that we fear and avoid. With teletherapy, your therapist can be with you virtually and can guide you as you do these exposures or make other changes where they matter most.

access

If you live anywhere other than a major city, it may be difficult to find high-quality evidence-based therapy near you. We wanted to ensure that no matter where in our covered states you live, you can access the best services from experts in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

Also, with teletherapy, we can provide services to people in several states, rather than people within easy driving distance of one office.

convenience

If you have participated in therapy in the past, or if you have had other types of standing appointments, you may have had to deal with traffic and parking and taking time off from work. A 50-minute therapy session can require double or triple that time in your schedule to account for a commute, and it can be difficult to reserve this time in your schedule each week while juggling other competing demands. Teletherapy brings therapy to you, wherever you are, and requires only the 50 minutes needed for a session (along with time to work on your goals between sessions). You can have therapy during a lunch break, or in between other obligations. You can have therapy in your office, living room, or anywhere else you have a private space and Internet access.

If you have ever thought you are too busy for therapy, teletherapy may solve that problem.

We encourage you to try teletherapy and see what you think.
