Alice Kim, PhD
PSYCHOLOGIST, SHE/HER/HERS
Licensed Clinical Psychologist: Washington 70086429, authorized to provide teletherapy in 41 states and District of Columbia through PSYPACT.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist with years of experience tailoring evidence-based therapy to adults at many stages of life. In individual and couple therapy, I work with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, trauma, grief and loss, and the challenges of living with chronic illness. I have practiced in outpatient mental health and hospital medical settings with additional training in couple therapy, health psychology, and work with older adults. My approach is trauma informed, and I strive to practice cultural humility with my clients.
I want to help you build a life that fits you and relationships that can hold your differences. From our first session, you are the expert on your experience. As we go, I’ll share what I’m noticing and check how it’s sitting with you. I want to know who you are in the whole of your life, including how your background and identities have shaped what you carry. We’ll work as a team to explore what matters most to you, what keeps getting in the way, and what you’re already doing that’s working, which is usually more than people expect. What matters to you is worth taking seriously even when it’s hard to act on or hard for the people close to you to hear. Together we’ll build skills to close that gap so you can show up more fully in your own life and in your relationships. Sometimes getting started is the scariest part. I look forward to beginning our work together.
I specialize in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy, and mindfulness-based approaches, which I integrate flexibly to meet you where you are. I completed my Ph.D. in Clinical Science at the University of Southern California and served as a doctoral intern and postdoctoral fellow at VA Puget Sound Health Care System.
